France offers several routes for skilled workers, entrepreneurs, investors, students and family members. The Talent Passport is the flagship permit for people who can demonstrate economic or professional value.
Talent Passport
The Talent Passport covers several categories: highly qualified employees, innovative company founders, investors, economic buyers, authors and artists, and internationally renowned professionals. Each category has its own income, project or qualification requirements.
It is usually issued as a long-stay visa that converts into a multi-year residence permit, with simplified family reunification.
Tech Visa and French Tech
The French Tech Visa is a fast-track within the Talent Passport for employees, founders and investors joining a French Tech member company or recognised innovative project. It simplifies the process for people with recognised technical or business profiles.
Work and student permits
Salaried workers usually need a job offer and an employer who completes the work-authorisation process before the visa application. Students need an acceptance letter, proof of funds and insurance, and may work part-time under set limits.
Family reunification
Certain residence permit holders can apply to bring a spouse and minor children to France. The sponsor must show stable and sufficient income, adequate housing and health insurance for the family.
Validation and residence card
Long-stay visa holders must validate their visa online within three months of arrival. The residence permit card is then collected from the local prefecture according to the appointment schedule.
